Mat and I finally set our vacation dates in stone. It's been since our honeymoon (five years ago) since we have been on a vacation/holiday. (With the exception of a weekend getaway to Sauble Beach last February)
We're planning on leaving Friday April 16th - stop in & visit some family in Fort Wayne & then drive all of Route 66 to Flagstaff.
Then begin out hike down the Grand Canyon on the 21st.
It looks like we might not be camping at the bottom of the canyon as originally hoped due to the fact that all the campsites are 100% booked. But there is a ranch (Phantom Ranch) at the bottom with dorms that we might be able to get into. It'll be nice to sleep on a bed rather than dirt desert floor. Plus it means we don't have to carry a tent down!
We're also going to hit up my favorite place in the world, Monument Valley. Along with Arches National Park in Utah, & (hopefully) if we can swing it, Saguaro National Park in Arizona.
