the best things...

There are a lot of great things about living in the country.

The long drives down unfamiliar country roads on weekends.

Seeing nothing but lush greenery, fields almost ready for harvest {especially corn!}

Cows - complete with horns.

But the best of all in my opinion is this:

Blueberries ready to be picked & eaten right off the bush.

around the house

Good day all!
Today I thought I'd share with you some pictures from around the house.

THE Point.

THE Point, again.

7 acres of beauty.

The Bay of Quinte

Mat with our wonderful landlord, David. They were burning the brush & some drywall. It was a massive fire in the end.

Okay, so I didn't spot this dear on our property, but it wasn't that far away from our property. I wanted to capture a pic of her little baby fawn, but he was camera shy and dashed into the brush.

Seaweed grosses me out. I HATE the feel of it. *shivers* SO icky. But the lily pads are pretty cool. The yellow flowers are so pretty. Two seconds after this photo the rock I was standing on collapsed & fell into the water. I BARELY made it off in time.

*sigh* I love my bike.

Despite the beauty all around the property, this is still the best view of all.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Our little piece of {someone else's} paradise.

So I didn't go all kamikaze last night & go sky diving or launch myself out of a rocket or run away to some place unknown.
No, last night I went home & made a bbq dinner with Mat & relaxed {for the first time what has seemed like months}
We also went for a short little walk down through the 7 acres of land we have at our disposal with the house we rent. It's so private & quiet. I wrapped myself in a big sweater {in the middle of July, whats up with that?!} & we strolled down there before the rain came in.
Here are some of the {unedited} pics of the property. My apologies for the m being so dark, but it was just about to rain.

This is just behind our house

This is a about somewhere past the middle of the property.

THE Point.

The local Canadian Geese. For those of my Tyndale friends, these geese are NOTHING like the Tyndale geese. These ones were running from us while we were still 300 ft away. In Toronto they'd be swarming us & attacking. The geese here are chickens.

Guy fishing. I got a picture of his catch a few minutes earlier, but it was pretty blurry. I love fishing. I hope we can get our fishing license so that we can just fish right off the point.
There are canoes and kayaks we can use, but I'm not exactly fond of being out in the middle of a body of water in a small boat. In fact I hate it, I'll panic & freak out like crazy mad - especially if I don't think I can swim the distance to shore. {Can you believe I used to dream of being a Marine Biologist?}

& here's the view from the rock I like to plant my little butt on. Nothing wild & reckless about this shot, except maybe that there is goose poo on my feet & I'm not going anything about it.

Thanks for stopping by!

My New Job

Hola! So as many of my faithful readers will know, I've recently begun a new chapter of my life, which includes a new job at:

(I know, your sooo impressed that we have our own mugs)
So far its been a lot of training which can be overwhelming at times. There is always that little fear about making mistakes. I mean, regardless how hard I try, I'll make mistakes, but the perfectionist inside me is convinced that this need not be the case and I can do better. But I'm not too afraid because I work with these awesome people:

Ahem...I mean these (perfectly normal and sane) people:

There is (in no particular order...you can just try and guess who is who) Mike, Chris, Andrew, Colin, Jessica, Ian and our team 'padre' Bob. There a great bunch.

Jessica - who has been training me lo' these many days is so cool. It is really sad that she is going to be leaving in a month for maternity leave. That'll make me the only female in the office *yikes!* (Did I hear someone say mother hen?) One of my jobs is to make sure that Ian eats his lunch! *laugh*

QYFC/Youth Unlimited is a hugely influential organization with very dedicated and genuine people, who do nothing but invest into the lives of youth seeking to bring them to think on things in life that are deeper and more substancial than what kind of clothing is trendy or what is going on with Brad and Angelina, and it works.

If you'd like to know more or how you can help, click here.

And totally, if you are in the Quinte area of Ontario, please come and stop by the office for a visit! We're at 320 Sidney St. in Belleville!
